Full Time Faculty Position in Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology)
The University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in biomedical sciences. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The position will be available July 1, 2009.
Teaching is the primary focus of our faculty. We aspire to promote student learning in a humanistic environment, such that students are enthusiastic about providing scientifically-based, patient-centered care. Scholarship and research are also deemed essential, and the School of Dentistry is committed to strengthening its research mission through the development of and support for collaborative research activities.
Responsibilities include acting as course director for a three-quarter course in pharmacology and therapeutics, as well as participation in physiology and a multidisciplinary, integrated clinical science series. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program and pursue external research funding. Numerous opportunities exist for collaboration within the School of Dentistry and the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Research that engages clinical faculty in scholarship is of particular interest. Additional responsibilities include participation in dental school committees and other service activities.
Qualifications include: a PhD in pharmacology (or related science) and/or DDS or DMD/MD/PharmD degree; experience or interest in teaching pharmacology; postdoctoral research experience with peer-reviewed publications; potential to establish an independent research program.
