After-Hours Visits (posted 2/1/08)

Q: I’d like some information on billing for after-hours visits. Our physician came in on a Sunday and saw three people, and we aren’t sure what codes we can bill and what the likelihood of getting paid anything additional would be.

A: See code 99050 in your CPT manual, which you could report in addition to an E&M.
Whether you’d get more payment is a payer-dependent issue.
