Bruce Kleaveland is a leading writer, speaker, and consultant on electronic health records and related technology. He has over 25 years of experience in health care technology. Formerly chief operating officer at a leading electronic health records software company, he has overseen hundreds of EHR and practice management implementations and is well versed in the critical elements that make the difference between success and failure. He is currently president of Kleaveland Consulting, Inc., an independent consulting firm specializing in advisory services to provider organizations and the HIT industry. He is a faculty member for the Medical Group Management Association and Pri-Med, a technology columnist for Physicians Practice magazine and a member of the Microsoft Healthcare User Group (MS-HUG) Advisory Board. Mr. Kleaveland has a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors from Washington State University and a MBA from the University of Washington.
Jeffrey Hertzberg, M.D., M.S., is president of Medformatics, Inc.®, a Minneapolis-based consulting firm specializing in the design, implementation, and selection of healthcare information systems. Hertzberg was a board-certified physician in general internal medicine practice before completing a National Library of Medicine research fellowship and graduate degree in Medical Informatics at the University of Minnesota, where he researched factors leading to successful implementation of information technology among physicians. Since 1994, he has worked largely in the consulting arena, developing disease state management programs, physician profiling systems, and electronic health records for clients ranging in size from Fortune 500 pharmaceutical giants to local and regional healthcare organizations. He has consistently led organizations toward clinically driven analyses of their existing health data, in whatever form is available. Hertzberg also teaches medical informatics at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he is adjunct assistant professor in the Division of Health Informatics. He is a frequent author on topics related to the medical computer sciences, and has lectured at Harvard Medical School, the Mayo Clinic, and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, among others.
Pamela L. Moore, PhD, CPC, has spent the past 10 years learning, writing about, and teaching practice management. She is currently senior editor at Physicians Practice, America’s Leading Practice Management Journal, serving as lead researcher, consultant, and writer. Previously, Moore was senior editor at the Medical Group Management Association.
