December results from Walgreens Flu Index.

Texas and other southern states are still being hit the hardest this flu season, according to the Walgreen’s Flu Index data for December.According to the online interactive report, index levels are significantly higher in Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Mississippi compared to this time last year.

Walgreen’s Flu Index is an interactive, online tool that allows users to view flu activity across markets and states in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The data is not intended to illustrate levels or severity of flu activity, according to Walgreens. The report displays a measurement of absolute impact and incremental changes based upon the amount of antiviral medications sold on a per-store (Walgreens and Duane Reade) average basis. Areas with fewer than 10 Walgreens locations are not included in the report.
