Practice tip of the week: Combatting misinformation

Article

Your weekly dose of wisdom from the Physicians Practice experts.

With all the useful information available on Physicians Practice, it is easy to become overwhelmed.

With this in mind, the tip of the week is a chance to reflect on some of the wisdom found all across the site.

In a story on combatting medical misinformation in the exam room, Linda Girgis, MD wrote that physicians should address specific concerns that the patients have.

"We can give the patient a ton of information but unless we address what they are actually concerned about, we lost them. For example, we can tell a patient that the COVID vaccine is safe but if their only concern is that it may cause infertility, we fail if we don’t reassure them on that point. We need to listen and ask what specific concerns they have."

Come back next week for another tip of the week.
