Patient collections have become one of the most stubborn pain points in medical practice management. With high-deductible health plans now the norm and patient financial responsibility growing year over year, the old approach of billing and hoping for the best no longer cuts it.

A recent MGMA Stat poll found that only 26% of medical group leaders reported improved patient balance collections in 2025 compared with the prior year, while 29% said collections were worse.
