In the final rule outlining criteria for qualifying for federal incentives, CMS relaxed the requirements and gave providers some choice in how they achieve meaningful use of EHRs.
Rather than take a so-called "all-or-nothing" approach and meet all 25 criteria, providers can achieve 15 core objectives, as well as choose five objects from a list of 10, according to CMS. The final rule, released July 13, also eased some of the metrics for achieving these objectives.
