Motivating your team

Hey there folks, my name is Keith Reynolds, I’m the editor of Physicians Practice and this is the P2 Management Minute. Here are two simple ways to motivate your team; no big budget required.

1) Say “thank you” loudly and specifically

Skip ‘nice job.’ Name the win:
‘Ana stayed late, fixed a claim, saved a patient $300.’
Do it in the morning huddle or on a break-room board. Public, precise praise equals more of the right behavior and lower turnover.

2) Let staff hack the workflow

Front desk spots phone jams. Billers see denial trends. Ask for fixes and act fast. Post a Kill a Hassle wall, review ideas every Friday, and launch easy wins immediately. Track impact: minutes saved, denials down, dollars up. Visible results fuel more ideas.
