New EHRs in 2025: What independent practices need to know

Electronic health record (EHR) fatigue is nothing new, but 2025 brought a fresh wave of “next-generation” systems that promise less screen time, more automation and better use of data.

These three newly launched EHR platforms are now available to physicians in the United States:

• Oracle Health’s new artificial intelligence (AI)-driven ambulatory EHR
• InterSystems IntelliCare
• Athelas AIR

Each was formally introduced in 2025 and marketed as a ground-up rethinking of how clinicians document, navigate charts and manage the business side of care.

For physicians, these products are early signals of where the EHR market is heading — embedded AI assistants, conversational interfaces and tighter integration between clinical workflows and revenue cycle management (RCM).
