Boost practice performance by tracking two high-impact data points. Learn how to cut cancellations, optimize templates, and prioritize profitable services in this quick P2 Management Minute.

Hey there folks, my name is Keith Reynolds, I’m the editor of Physicians Practice and this is the P2 Management Minute. Here are two data points every practice administrator should track weekly.

1) Spot no-show patterns

Export 12 months of appointments and sort by day, time, clinician, and visit type. If Monday afternoon new-patient physicals cancel 18%, that’s a signal: double-book selectively, add day-of reminders, or offer waitlist auto-fills. Build a simple dashboard so you can see hot spots at a glance and adjust templates before the schedule slips.

2) Pinpoint high-value service lines

Pair work RVUs with gross charges and net collections to see what truly pays. Create a table by CPT: RVUs, allowed amount, average minutes, supply cost. Calculate revenue per RVU and per minute. Then prioritize template space, staffing, and equipment around the services with the strongest realized yield—without compromising access or quality.

Track no-shows, track true yield, and tune your schedule accordingly. For more bite-size practice tips and tricks make sure you visit PhysiciansPractice.com.

Thanks for watching I’ll see you tomorrow on the P2 Management Minute!
