Before I Relocate …

Article

I am interested in relocating to another state, such as Virginia or Pennsylvania. Can you give me your opinion about the malpractice environment in these two states compared to New York?

Question: I am interested in relocating to another state, such as Virginia or Pennsylvania. Can you give me your opinion about the malpractice environment in these two states compared to New York?

Answer: Pennsylvania is notorious for its poor malpractice conditions. I don’t know about Virginia.

For our latest guide to the best places to practice, read our article, “The Best States to Practice.”

The bottom line, though, is that you need to be where you are happy, whether it’s near family, in a big or small city, warm or cool climate. You could move to a rural community and be in demand with lower malpractice rates and lower overhead, but be miserable as a person. My advice: Decide where you want to be and create a business plan that makes it work.
