P2 Management Minute: Hiring practice staff

Hey there folks, my name is Keith Reynolds, I’m the editor of Physicians Practice and for today’s P2 Management Minute we’re going to give you three quick hiring tips to land the right team member for your practice the first time.

First, you’re going to want to define the role clearly. Write a detailed job description that spells out skills, responsibilities and performance expectations. Precise parameters filter out unqualified applicants and focus your interviews on the best fits.

Second, prioritize cultural fit. Credentials matter, but a candidate who shares your practice’s values and work style will collaborate better, boost morale and stay longer. Spend part of the interview exploring how they solve problems and interact with peers.

Third, look for health care experience. Candidates fluent in EHR workflows, HIPAA rules and insurance processes ramp up faster and make fewer costly mistakes; saving you training time and protecting compliance.
