Article

Your weekly dose of wisdom from the Physicians Practice experts.

With all the useful information available on Physicians Practice, it is easy to become overwhelmed.

With this in mind, the tip of the week is a chance to reflect on some of the wisdom found all across the site. In a May 2021 story on best practices for switching to cloud based documentation, Drew Boxler writes the following about a MGMA presentation given by Dr. Jeff Williams, assistant medical information officer at Hattiesburg Clinic and Constance Cain, clinical analyst at Hattiesburg Clinic:

“Overall, Williams and Cain said that the cloud-based platform improved physician experience, accelerated care coordination, reduced transcription costs by $1.5 million, shortened the billing cycle, and improved the patient experience. Ninety-eight percent of their total spoken documentation was created by the new solution, benefiting clinicians by having documentation available in real time, they said.

1). Find pilot users who are honest, not necessarily nice

- You will need good feedback on your setup

2). Education is key

- New users just looking to dictate can be trained in 30 minutes

- Full functionality training only takes 1-2 hours”
