A 2025 analysis of staffing shortfalls warned that longer lobby waits, clogged phone lines and mounting scheduling errors are among the first outward signs your front desk is over capacity; each minute a patient spends idle erodes satisfaction scores and repeat‑visit intent.

Action: Track median in‑office wait and the “third‑next‑available” appointment monthly. Two straight quarters of increases usually justify hiring or redeploying a scheduler or medical assistant.
