1) Hire credentialed specialists, not warm bodies

Recruit Certified Professional Coders—or specialty-specific credentials that match your services. Credentialed coders spot documentation gaps, anticipate payer edits, and cut costly rework. The payoff starts on day one: cleaner claims, fewer denials, faster cash.

2) Budget for continuous education and CEUs

Coding rules change quarterly. Plan for it. Cover dues, reimburse courses, and schedule protected study time. Remember: AAPC requires 36 CEUs every two years per credential—more if your coder holds multiple. Investing in education keeps skills current and audits calm.
