A new Physicians Practice handbook breaks down the 2027 Medicare fee schedule proposal, with worked math on what practices stand to lose.

Medicare would pay most physicians 1.68% less per service in 2027, but the rate cut is the least of it. Buried in the nearly 1,600-page proposed rule are changes that would halve payment for a second service on the same day, convert the G2211 complexity add-on into a percentage modifier and end traditional Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) reporting after 2028.
