With all the useful information available on Physicians Practice, it is easy to become overwhelmed.

With this in mind, the tip of the week is a chance to reflect on some of the wisdom found all across the site. In this August 2021 story on front office billing tips, Avery Hurt gives this tip:

1) Begin the collections process even before the patients enter the door

  • Have staff verify insurance, confirm their copay, and review whether they have an unmet deductible. Also check to see if patients have an outstanding balance. For patients who have a balance but cannot pay in full, this is a good time to refer them to your back-office staff who can ideally explain pre-established payment plans.
