Why Physicians Should Practice Medicine in Missouri

Article

Surgical oncologist Paul Dale shares his perspective on practicing medicine in the state of Missouri.

Surgical oncologist Paul Dale, based in Columbia, Mo., recently told Physicians Practice what he loves about practicing in The Show-Me State.

Dale is the chief of surgical oncology at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center (EFCC), the Margaret Proctor Mulligan Distinguished Professor in Medical Research, and interim medical director of Ellis Fischel.

Why do you like practicing in Missouri?
I enjoy practicing in Missouri because it is the "show-me state" and our patients have

the "show-me attitude." They are very appreciative and loyal to their physicians once their physician shows them
good quality care.

I especially enjoy my practice location in Columbia, Mo., which is very centrally located in the state. As a college town, home
of the University of Missouri Tigers, there are many sporting and performing arts activities for our family to enjoy.
Additionally, EFCC, where I practice, is the oldest cancer center west of the Mississippi, and we just opened a new 300,000 square-feet state-of-the-art patient tower, making it the newest cancer center west of the Mississippi. With St. Louis and Kansas City only 90 minutes away and a wide variety of outdoor sporting, hunting, and fishing opportunities, Missouri offers something for everyone.

What don't you like about practicing in Missouri?
Being almost in the center of the United States it is a long way to a beach, but planes fly every day and one of the largest manmade lakes in the U.S., the Lake of the Ozarks, is only one hour away.
