I am having trouble with my current practice management and billing system. I want to change vendors, but how do I decide who to go with? They all seem expensive. Would it help to pick a company with headquarters near where I live? Is it possible to just submit claims electronically to the insurance companies or do I have to go with a clearinghouse?

We were wondering if it’s worth participating in CMS’ e-prescribing bonus program. Is the 2 percent that Medicare will reimburse actually 2 percent of all submitted charges? It seems there’s some “hidden” work that goes along with this program. Can you give me more detail?

We scan all of our EOBs as a record of our work and frequently need to go back to an individual patient’s EOB to appeal. I have experimented with different optical character recognition (OCR) programs for our PDF documents but have found nothing is really getting better than about an 80 percent find rate. Do you know software that is better or an integrated solution?
